At Next Vintage, we are Doug and Lacie, a husband and wife team that share a passion for all things wine. With several years of experience in the wine industry, we specialize in wine education, exploration, and tailored consulting services for small businesses. We both hold our Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 3 (WSET 3) and Certified Specialist in Wine (CSW) certifications.
Having successfully branded, scaled, and sold two specialty wine bars and wine shops, we know the ins and outs of the industry like the back of our hands (which, by the way, also happen to be great at holding a glass). Our journey through the world of wine has fueled our desire to share our insights and help others thrive—because let’s face it, wine is better when shared. Now that the sale of our second business is finalized, we've decided to take another leap, this time into the winemaking and production side of things. Starting in July, we’ll be making our way to Napa where we will be knee deep in tanks along with stained purple hands in no time. We will be working with a producer in the Carneros region of Napa Valley; to say we're excited is an understatement. While we’re learning all aspects of production, we’ll be sharing our experiences. We don't know what to expect, but isn't that half the fun? Having butterflies and nerves at this stage of our lives isn't always par for the course, but we're armed with a good positive attitude and plenty of Advil, so bring on the unknown!
Prior to our work in the wine industry, Doug honorably served for 31 years in the U.S. Navy, both in the enlisted and officer ranks, retiring in late 2014 at the rank of Commander in the Special Operations community. Post-military, following a passion for long-distance running, served as the Director of Operations for both the Boston and New York City Marathons.
With a rich background in the running industry, Lacie founded Swirlgear, a women’s running apparel brand, and consulted for large-scale marathons and cycling events across the US. Additionally, she served as the Vice President of Heatsheets, a premier manufacturer of reflective insulation products commonly seen at marathon finish lines worldwide.
In addition to sharing our experiences for the 2025 harvest and sharing some favorites around Napa Valley, we also offer several specialized services. Please check out our Services tab for detailed information.
We hope you'll follow along.
